Great food. The kids had quesadillas and fries, I had three kinds of tacos. Chips and queso were a hit.
The best authentic Mexican restaurant in the area. We've been 5-6 times and always have had great food. From the asada burrito, the frijoles pupusa, all of the tacos, can't go wrong with any of it! The service is always quick and they have a great patio to sit outside on nice days. Highly recommend if looking for good Mexican in the area

My friend was wanting a more authentic Mexican meal and decided to try out El Amigo in Cary. The service was amiable and the wait time was not bad at all. The papusas were as good as any I've had and the portions were generous. Not a bad price either. I cannot remember what my friend ordered but it was also satisfying; he thoroughly enjoyed it. The facility itself is small but that's not a negative as turnover is quick due to expedient service. It was a nice bright place to enjoy a midday meal.
The food was outstanding! This place has all the markings of a local dive that you might bypass: fast food-style order at the register, kind of worn all over, small seating area, grab a drink from the fridge, no beer, you can order chips and salsa if you want them, and no other customers. But service was very good and engaging, and the best Mexican food around. Try it, you'll like it!
Burritos - good. Tacos - good. Pupusa - good. Tostada - good. Gordita - good. Tamales - good. Hot sauce - good. The peeps - good peeps. This place is really really good.
Great food and service. Convenient location to neighborhoods I frequent in Cary. I love the pulled pork carnitas. Two are $5.50.
El Amigo is a hidden gem in Cary. We eat here often and it's so delicious every time! My favorite is the chicken tacos. The chicken is grilled to perfection with an amazing flavor. It comes in a corn tortilla with cilantro, lime, radishes, grilled onions, a side of sauce, a slice of grilled pepper, and raw onions (which I always ask for no raw ones). It's so fresh and yummy! My husband gets the chicken tacos too and the tamales. The tamales are also delicious. This visit I tried a chicken sope, which was amazing with beans, avocado, and sour cream. Their juices are always tasty. This visit we got the tamarind juice, but we've also tried their horchata. I love them all. We always come back and I highly recommend a visit!
